Audia: 2x2 Router object and Preset question

Hi All;

I'm new to Biamp products but am pretty impressed with both the HW and SW so far. I support an installation at our Church and have come across a question about the Router object and Presets.

I've installed Audio 5.2 on my laptop, but did not have the AudiaFLEX_4.640 to update the system. The current Device FW shows as: 3.308-2.3-4.560.

We have a 2x2 Router that controls a Subwoofer channel and a Monitor channel. (Out 1 is the Subwoofer, Out 2 is Monitor). Input 1 comes from the Sub-send and Input2 is from the Mon-Send. When the default settings load the Subwoofer is off and the only the Monitor channel is on (Input 2 to Output 2 only).

We have a preset (Subwoofer On) where the only item in the preset is the 2x2 Router and it is set to enable Input 1 to Output 1 and in2 to Out2.

This works great. When the preset is recalled it changes the state of the router as shown above.

We have another preset that is supposed to turn off the Subwoofer channel, and so it has the same 2x2 Router object with the In1-Out1 object unchecked and the 2-2 object checked. But when I recall this preset, it does not change the status of the 2x2 Router. It stays as it is shown above.

Should the Edit Block Fields in the Preset definition toggle the channels (checked is on, unchecked is off) for the Router object and subsequently change those states?

Is this possibly due to the older FW level?

Also, does updating the firmware on the device wipe out the configuration?

Kind Regards,

--Doug

Doug,

Your "edit block fields" picture looks correct as long as you want your preset to only affect the "Mon-Send to Monitor" crosspoint. A single preset will not toggle between two states, it will only recall a state. So, if you're looking to toggle your monitor send on and off, you'll need to create two presets (both of which will have the same "edit block fields" settings as in your picture). One preset will have the crosspoint on, and the other preset will have the crosspoint off. Recalling the two presets alternately will toggle your crosspoint on and off.

However, on another note, you might be making things harder than you need to. It sounds like all you're trying to do is mute and unmute the monitor and/or subwoofer feeds. You can accomplish this more simply by just using two mute controls. Then you wouldn't have to worry about editing block fields at all. The only situation in which a router (or matrix mixer) would be required is if you want the option to send the monitor feed to the subwoofer, or the subwoofer feed to the monitor.

swieser,

Thanks for the reply and confirmation on how the Router object works.

I'm working through deciphering the configuration as designed by the installer. And I think initially they were thinking that if the Subwoofer was not used, both channels would be used for monitors. But that would require unplugging the Sub and plugging in a Monitor. (One of the other stored presets that is currently not used has both the lower object blocks checked)

I thought about using the Mute option last night as well. That would allow Sub On/ Sub Off. Then I think I would create another preset that would be for 'Two Monitors' where the Router gets set.

Hi Doug,

Updating the firmware dosn't wipe out the configuration

but, it's always better to save the last configuration before updating the firmware gust in case.......
