XFMR or Direct Output with CMA60 Mixer/Amp

I have a CMA60 mixer/amp that I am moving from one area where it was used as a 70v system set on XFMR. I am moving it to an area where I have two 16ohm speakers and intend to use the 8ohm output. If I switch it to direct output, in the manual it says that the CMA60 direct ouput is via the 4ohm ouput and not 8ohm. In XFMR can I still use the 8ohm out?

The 8 ohm output is through the transformer so leave the switch in the transformer position.
