If we reboot her PC in the courtroom, everything would still stick. It was only after not using it for a few days that the connection would fail.

DaVinci keeps these settings in the registry. We have roaming profiles setup on our network. So, if she rebooted the courtroom pc, everything would stay the same - UNTIL she'd log out from her normal workstation, thus resetting the registry information.

To fix: We had the user log off of her normal workstation (the one she usually sits at in the Judge's chambers) first. Then, we had her log in to the courtroom PC, set the autoconnect credentials as her, then logged her off of her courtroom PC so the registry settings would be added to her profile. Now that the settings had a chance to save, she can log and off of either profile at anytime and in any combination without fear of losing those registry settings again.

This took a little while to figure out so I hope this information may help someone in the future.

Hello!

Thanks for sharing this! However it brings up the stone age old discussion again, whether applications should use the registry to save application data. Call me old fashioned but there is nothing better than a human readable text file and a command line switch to choose which ini file to load....

hehhehe.. Nah Harald, you're not old fashioned... I also like batch files! :-)

I actually completely forgot when reading this email about an application note we have for daVinci Auto-Connect and multi-users. See attached to this post.

It basically applies the autoconnect settings stored into the registry at login of WinXP and would have also solved the issue Chris was witnessing.

Hope this information helps,

Tony
