Preset Recall Question

What determines the amount of time it takes to recall a preset: 1) the number of blocks involved in the preset, or 2) the number of presets in a file? I have experienced delays in recalling presets and I'm trying to see if I can write my files differently to help decrease the delay time. Thanks all!

Hello Steve-O

The amount of time it takes to recall a preset is determined by several different variables, like the amount of blocks included in that preset, the type of blocks, whether you're recalling the entirety of the block or just some of it's parameters; whether the system is a single or multi-device one, whether the system is actually doing something else at the time, like receiving information via the serial port, or updating a busy daVinci panel, etc, etc, etc.

In any case, if you're trying to speed up the recall time, a preset changing fewer parameters will usually be recalled faster than one with more blocks in it.

Out of curiosity, how bad is the delay you're experiencing? Is your file too busy, or do the presets include many DSP blocks? If your delay really gets in the way, feel free to send the file over to support and we'll be happy to have a look at it.

I hope this helps

Martin,

Judging by your answer I would guess that the delay I am experiencing is a combination of the number of blocks in the preset (3 8 button logic states) and the 17 meters in my daVinci. I will try to make some changes to shave off some time. The preset I am recalling is one to reset the logic states on Inc/Dec volume controls so that might be part of the problem. Thanks for your help.
