Im using a Vol/sel8 unit. When a volume zone is selected I want the SEL8 part to select a source just for that zone. As far as I can tell thre is no way to tell which volume zone is selected so the select 8 can call up the right source for that zone. The other way I was looking at doing it as was having the select button calling up 4 diffrent sources from the one logic output this would involve using a few flip flops and gates. The logic dosnt seem to be to difficult to work out but Im not sure of the delays involved in getting it all to work reliably. Has anyone done this or somthing similar?

Hi Al:

I had a look at your file, and I don't believe it does what you're after. This is what the logic in there achieves:

Pressing the pot on the S8 once puts output 1 Hi permanently, and out 3 temporarily. Therefore, presets 1 and 3 will be recalled.
Pressing the same pot on the S8 for a second time, brings Out 1 Lo, and puts Out 2 and 4 Hi. Therefore presets 2 and 4 will be recalled.
Pressing the same pot on the S8 for a third time, leaves Out 2 Hi, brings Out 3 Hi and Out 4 Lo. Therefore preset 3 will be recalled.
Pressing the same pot on the S8 for a fourth time, brings all four nodes Lo. No presets will be recalled.

If you want to recall different presets by pressing the same pot repeatedly, I believe you'll find it a lot easier to achieve by using nested presets rather than logic circuits. Have a look at Page 3 of the August 2006 Technical Newsletter, available for download here: http://www.biamp.com/tech_news.php, where this exact feature is explained step by step.

I hope this helps,

Martin

Hi Al,

By accident, I have been trying to do something very similar and have attached the DAP file and a word documetn outlining how I have achieved my result.

Bare in mind, one of the possibilities I did not do, which might be an advantage to you, is as part of a preset, is to set up the volume control to only show the level control for the particularlly selected zone.

This is simply done by leaving the not required positions empty when looking at the Volume/Select control box.

There are obviously other things which can be done and added (some things I might not have doen like uncheck Mute audio during recall only because of time), but I think the attached will provide what you are after.

I hope my explaination is sufficient.

Let me know how you go

Steve

Hi Al,Steve and Martin,

This is a problem that most programmers(including myself) try to do and is overload what a V/S8 contoller can do.

It would be nice if there was a seperate box for the logic out of a V/S8 of which volume you had selected to change that could recall presets associated with that zone,

much like the seperate logic outputs from a NPS-1.

The other way is to use a seperate S8 control to recall which zone you want to controll volumes and inputs for.

I have attached a nexia file as an example of how to do this.I hope BiAmp will look into this extra logic feature.

Garth
